Abstract:
Native palms from the Atlantic Forest were selected, according to their ornamental aspect, for developing studies aimed at their characterization, conservation and use in gardening and landscaping. The species selected were Euterpe edulis, Geonoma schottiana, G. gamiova and G. elegans. Morphological characteristics of ten representative plants from each species were evaluated over a four-year period. Results are presented in tables that show the morphological characteristics and in figures that emphasize the ornamental aspects of each species.
