Abstract:
In 1990 several clones of 'Green Gage' plum and 'Stanley' were grafted on eight advanced rootstock selections and planted in tipic loam and dry soils of the Alentejo region.
First years of observations showed a very reduced grow of Pixy and Citation, incompatible with renewal growth, and a retard of frutification and suckers production in Prunus cerasifera and Marianna GF 8.1. From this preliminary results the moderated vigorous Marianna P 10.2 and Isthara appears the more interesting in respect to frutification and ramification of 'Green Gage'. In 1993 leaf simples were collected from each tree and analyzed for element content.
We observed significants differences in rootstocks for N, K, and Ca uptake.
