Abstract:
By thinning fruits on small branches, the individual fruit became larger with a higher content of soluble solids.
Removing leaves from branches with a fixed number of fruit-lets, resulted in smaller fruits and lower content of soluble solids in the fruit juice.
At a leaf/fruit ratio of about five to six, the size of the fruits did not increase further.
The soluble solids in the fruit juice, however, increased up to about ten leaves per fruit.
