Abstract:
There are more than 500 species of Allium with more than 110 taxa represented (including varieties and introduced species) in China. More than 15 species of Allium are collected from the wild and used. Some 467 accessions of Allium have been preserved as seed in the National Gene Bank, including Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum Rottl.ex spreng.), Welsh onion (Allium fistulosum L. var. giganteum Makino.), onion (Allium cepa L.), and garlic (Allium sativum L.).
