ISHS Acta Horticulturae 356: II International Symposium on Olive Growing

LEAF SPOT (SPILOCAEA OLEAGINEA) OF OLIVE IN ISRAEL AND ITS CONTROL

Authors:   E. Shabi, R. Birger, S. Lavee
Keywords:   Spilocaceaea oleaginea, Peacock eye disease, difenoconazole, olive
Abstract:
In the season of 1992–3 a new fungicide difenoconazole (Score 25 EC) was tested for the control of Spilocaea oleaginea in a heavily infected cv. Manzanillo olive grove in Israel. Two spray applications in the autumn (17 November and 28 December 1993) of difenoconazole 100 μg/ml mixed with spray oil, were very effective. This mixture controlled S. oleaginea better than difenoconazole 150 μg/ml or the traditional copper sulphate (10 g/L) treatment.

An additional spray treatment in the spring (22 February or 28 March 1993) before or just after the beginning of the new spring growth did not cause further control of the disease.
