Abstract:
Mannitol and sucrose were tested at different levels (both at 17, 34, and 68 gl-1, also at 8.5 for mannitol only) to improve proliferation of cultivar Maurino in vitro. Highest growth was obtained in presence of 34 gl-1 of mannitol or sucrose.
Mannitol was more efficient than sucrose at the same level.
Results indicate that mannitol could improve shoot growth, thereby substituting sucrose in olive in vitro cultures.
