Abstract:
Three to 5 years old potted and field-grown olive plants, cvs ‘Chalkidikis’ and ‘Kalamon’, were pruned 10–15 cm above grou auxin, c) Addition of Tween-20 into the lanolin-auxin paste accelerated rooting and increased the number and f.wt. of roots per layer, d) There was a positive correlation between auxin concentration and the rooting percentage, the number and f.wt. of r auxin, c) Addition of Tween-20 into the lanolinauxin paste accelerated rooting and increased the number and f.wt. of roots per layer, d) There was a positive correlation between auxin concentration and the rooting percentage, the number and f.wt. of auxin, c) Addition of Tween-20 into the lanolin-auxin paste accelerated rooting and increased the number and f.wt. of roots per layer, d) There was a positive correlation between auxin concentration and the rooting percentage, the number and f.wt. of roots per layer in ‘Kalamon’, e) IBA at the highest concentration used,(40,000 mg/l) gave the most satisfactory results, f) Paclobutrazol combined with IBA exerted a beneficial effect on root quality.
Transplantation of the rooted layers was 100 % successful.
The new plants, due to their rich root system, grew extremely fast and reached a marketable size in less than six months.
