ISHS Acta Horticulturae 356: II International Symposium on Olive Growing

AN EVALUATION OF APPROACH THE GENETIC VARIABILITY OF OLIVE TREE USING ENZYMATIC MARKERS.

Authors:   N. Ouazzani, R. Lumaret, P. Villemur
Keywords:   Olive tree, Olea europaea L., genetic resources, enzyme polymorphism
Abstract:
A study of leaf enzyme polymorphism was studied to estimate genetic variability in olive tree (Olea europaea L.). The main objectives were : to evaluate the contribution of leaf enzymatic markers to estimate genetic variability in olive tree, and to determine the possibility of use of wild tree and old olives in germplasms as genetic resource for breeding programs. A synthesis of results obtained is proposed specially : identification of the main mediterranean olive cultivars, genetic variation in cultivated and wild olive trees, and genotype distribution in "vigorous" and "weak" trees.
