Abstract:
In this paper, we first describe the recent evolution of techniques and varieties, in order to understand the logic of the present "intensive system". We show that this system, produced by the specific economic context of the last decades, lead to some perverse effects (environment, crop quality, costs). Then we present some applications of the current research : design of new management systems, and machinery, better use of genetic diversity and new breeding techniques.
Finally we insist on the need, for future advances, of pluridisciplinary approaches.
