| Abstract:
This is a colorimetric method using reactive strips (Merck), which provides an istant indication as to the nitrate content of a soil, thereby avoiding delay in deciding how much manure to apply. The method can be utilized by the farmer for a modest cost. Although the procedures for taking and preparing samples are not simplified, the method dispenss with the need for refeigerated transport to the laboratory and the laboratory response time associated with the traditional technique. The accuracy of this method is adequate for crop management. | |
