PRODUCTIVITY OF LEAF-FLOWER BUDS OF SEVERAL BLACK CURRANT CULTIVARS

Authors:   E. Zurawicz, S. Pluta, D. Skowronski
Abstract:
An interest in harvesting leaf-flower buds of black currant in the dormancy period began in Poland few years ago. They are exported to Western Europe to extract ethereal oils for cosmetic industry. The research conducted in the winter of 1993, at the peak of their dormancy proved that black currant varieties differ considerably in their productivity. Out of seven tested cultivars (Fertödi-1, Ceres, Ojebyn, Ben Nevis, Triton, Titania and Titania Zam.) Ceres, Fertödi-1 and Triton demonstrated the highest efficiency but Titania Zam. and Titania the lowest.
