ECONOMICAL ASPECTS OF BLACK CURRANT PRODUCTION IN POLAND

Author:   K. Zmarlicki
Abstract:
Cultivation of black currants was one of the most profitable among plant production for a last decade of the eighties in Poland. The labour and material costs were still very low because of the fixed government prices existing. On the other hand the prices for the fruit mainly exported at that time were very high. In 1990 the medium production cost was estimated to be about 2500 zl per 1 kg of black currant and the fruit price reached 12000 zt. Two years later in 1992 the fruit price was about 800 zt below the production costs.
