CARACTERIZATION OF SOMATIC EMBRYO INDUCTION IN SEED OF FILBERT: EFFECT OF MATURATION

Authors:   B. Berros, M. Rey, M. Albuerne, R. Rodríguez
Abstract:
The effect of seed maturity on somatic embryo induction in filbert have been studied. Fruits at different development stages were collected between July and September of 1991 and three types of inoculum were excised: embryonic axes, proximal- and distal cotyledonar portions. MS media with hormone combinations favourable to auxins or citoquinins was used. The assays carried out reveal the existence of a critical period in which embryogenesis can be obtained with ease, that concurs with the main growth phase of the tissues used. The histological assays, performed in different development stages of inducted embryos, allow to stablish a similarity with the histological organization of zygotic embryos.
