VITALITA' E GERMINABILITA' DEL POLLINE DI 'TGL', 'COSFORD' E DI IBRIDI 'TGL' X 'COSFORD'. |

| Abstract:
The choice of pollinators is important to increase productivity of Tonda Gentile delle Langhe ('TGL') the main cultivar of Piemonte really appreciated by confectionary factory. Cultivar 'Cosford', good pollinator of 'TGL', has elongated nut that is not appreciated by factory. To obtain a good pollinator with roundish nuts, crossing 'TGL' x 'Cosford' were done; among the progeny the selections 101, 104E, 104F, 3L, 123F, 119 were tested for pollen viability, germinability, uniformity and for their compatibility with cultivar 'TGL' through tests of fruit set. The selections 3L and 123F resulted very good pollinators; in fact they increased the productivity of this cultivars till 88% of fruit set. These two selections have roundish nuts, with good taste and percent kernel higher than 50%; they can be appreciated from factory and used for new plantings. | |
