Abstract:
The irrigation rates applied in polyethylene houses exercised an influence on formation of pepper fruits.
At the irrigation rate of 8.55 mm the studied varieties gave the highest yields.
Greater growth intensity is influenced by more intensive metabolic processes in the whole plant.
Although the processes have a positive influence on the plant production, certain decrease of some components occur.
Dry matter content was decreased by the highest irrigation rate in all the experimental years, but sugar content was not essentially influenced by differences quantities of water as well as -carotene content.
Great differences were found in L-ascorbic acid content.
Formation of this component was greater at the lowest irrigation rates.
On the contrary, higher quantities of water evoked an essential decrease of L-ascorbic acid, especially at the initial stage of development.
