MODELLING GROWTH OF APRICOT CULTIVARS UNDER VARIOUS CONDITIONS

Authors:   E. Costes, J. Lichou, A. Audubert, M. Jay
Abstract:
A stochastic model of growth and branching was developed in previous studies, and applied to apricot trees (Prunus armeniaca L.). Growth was considered as a succession of metamers, and modelled using a renewal process. Branching was studied through the series of branched or unbranched nodes. This paper presents complementary results obtained by applying the same model to various cultivars. Trees of 'Rouge du Roussillon', 'Modesto' and 'Rosé de Fournes', grafted on apricot clonal seedling 'GF1236' and Plum 'Brompton' were studied at two research stations. Similarities and differences are discussed, with comparison of the distribution of the total number of metamers per growth unit.
