STRAWBERRY PLANTS REGENERATION BY ORGANOGENESIS FROM PEDUNCLE AND STOLON SEGMENTS

Author:   Elwira K. Lis
Abstract:
An efficient and reprocucible method of direct shoot regeneration from stolon internods and peduncles of flower buds in somaclonal (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) has been developed. The influence of hormone concentration, length of stolon internode, light conditions, and sucrose concentration on shoot regeneration was examined. The regeneration frequency from stolon segments was very high in cultivars Redgauntlet, Surprise des Halles and Senga Sengana. Shoot production from peduncle segments was high in ‘Redgauntlet’ but not in ‘Senga Sengana’. Regenerated plants were transverred to soil after 2 months in culture.
