| Abstract:
In the strawberry cv. Pajaro, somaclonal variation of plants regenerated from anther culture was investigated through open field observations carried out in Cesena (Po Valley, Italy) during fall 1990 and spring 1991 with 1484 plants regenerated in May 1990. The main phenotype variations (leaf chlorosis, white steak, dwarfism) were noted. Thirty-six somaclones were selected for superior agronomic traits in comparison to the original clone. Further observations are needed in order to give a final evaluation on this procedure as an alternative one to increase variability. | |
