Abstract:
Strawberry plantlets (Fragaria × ananassa Duch. cv.
Senga Sengana) were propagated in vitro on nine different media with all combinations of the phytohormones IBA (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 mg/l) and BAP (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 mg/l). After in vitro rooting and acclimatization, 30 plants of each treatment were planted in a field together with plants of the same genotype propagated conventionally by runners.
Significant differences in vigour, flowering, yield and runnering could be found between either conventionally propagated plants or tissue cultured plants, and within the nine phytohormone treatments.
