Abstract:
This study was undertaken in March to May of 1992 during Queenslands strawberry transplant season.
The catalyst was the unexplained runner failure experiences of 40% to 80%. Three areas were examined to address this problem, firstly measurement of a runners stress tolerance levels, secondly regulation of a runners physiological time-clock, thirdly control of a runners maturity.
Such benefits could provide increased grower confidence in runner Certification Schemes and an estimated 15% to 20% yearly productivity increase.
