| Abstract:
A small program on Fragaria species hybridization is conducted at Balsgard in addition to conventional strawberry breeding. The emphasis is to breed new decaploid F. × vescana hybrids with improved commercial qualities. However, work is also going on in an attempt to introduce genes from other species, like F. viridis and F. moschata, into the cultivated strawberry, Fragaria × ananassa Duch. | |
