Abstract:
The following were areas of fruit cultivation in Switzerland last year: apples were grown on close to 5,000 hectares, pears on nearly 900, cherries on 450, prunes on around 200, apricots on approximately 500 and peaches on well-nigh 20 hectares.
The exact figures are given in table 1.

Due to frost damage the 1991 apple harvest totalled only approximately 95,000 tons.
This year more than 191000 tons are expected.
