| Abstract:
The following were areas of fruit cultivation in Switzerland last year: apples were grown on close to 5,000 hectares, pears on nearly 900, cherries on 450, prunes on around 200, apricots on approximately 500 and peaches on well-nigh 20 hectares. The exact figures are given in table 1. Table 1 - Fruit acreage
Due to frost damage the 1991 apple harvest totalled only approximately 95,000 tons. This year more than 191000 tons are expected. | |||||||||||||||
