Abstract:
In Hungary the development of IPM was first begun by studies on pest and predator ecology.
Available data from 15 years studies made it possible to draw many theoretical conclusions which had practical consequences.
These investigations clarified the possibilities for the joint application of chemical, biological and other control methods.
In addition, they directed attention to the fact that the factors influencing IPM are often different under Hungarian -i.e.
Central-European - compared to-Western-European conditions.
Weather conditions, population dynamics of the pests, species composition and importance of parasitoids and predators may all differ.
