Abstract:
Several years of use in several thousand hectares of peach and apple orchards have shown the mating disruption technique to be an effective method for control of populations of tortrix pests in fruits.
Success can only by achieved, however, when the following parameters are observed: uniform distribution of the dispensers, adequate treatment of border areas, sufficient dose levels, steady release of the pheromones, reduction of population densities when necessary, and extending the treated area by coordinating the efforts of as many fruit growers as possible.
