ISHS Acta Horticulturae 347: II International Symposium on Integrated Fruit Production

A PROPOSED RATING SYSTEM FOR IFP GROWERS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Authors:   H.J. van Zyl, J.P. Hartman
Abstract:
The rating system consists of two categories. Category A measures the horticultural practices as described in the guidelines and counts up to 100 points, each guideline represents five points. A participant can be penalised on each guideline but is disqualified if he has been penalised with more than 30 points in Category A.

Category B measures the use of chemicals, taking into account the time of the year, the number of applications and the coding of the chemical (permitted, permitted with restrictions, not permitted with exceptions or not permitted). By allocating a value, each to the stage and coding, an index can be worked out. A participant will be disqualified if the index figure exeeds a value of 250.
