Abstract:
Quantification of inoculum potential is essential in Venturia inaequalis control.
The total amount of primary inoculum depends upon the area of scabbed leaves and on the cultivar.
In high inoculum orchards it isn't possible to apply low impact strategies for scab control, while in orchards with low inoculum and with cultivars with moderate receptivity new approaches in integrated protection open up, with the possibility of a planned reduction in treatments and a reduced influence by climatic events.
