CHANGES IN ENDOGENOUS CYTOKININS DURING FLOWER INDUCTION OF STRAWBERRY.

Authors:   A. YAMASAKI, M. YAMASHITA
Abstract:
Changes in endogenous cytokinins were investigated using the crown of strawberry plants flower-induced by night-chilling and short-day treatment. It was observed that the increase of zeatin level and decrease of zeatin riboside level just before flower initiation, and the specific increase of zeatin riboside just after the initiation occurred in flower-inducing plants. These results suggested that the changes in activity of zeatin and zeatin riboside played an important role in flower initiation and development.
