Abstract:
The quality and essential oil content of juniper berry oils depend greatly upon geographical origin, and upon local conditions. Therefore samples of Juniperus communis berries were collected during September 1991, at six different regions. These were: mountain of Schara (two samples), Maleschevo mountains, region of Tschakor mountain, and regions around Prijepolje and Prilep towns.

Determination of essential oil content and analysis of physicochemical properties were conducted according to Ph.Jug.IV. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of these samples were performed by GC and GC-MS techniques. Comparative chemical composition of main compounds is presented and discussed.
