Abstract:
Two ambiphilic bases (GalsanaR, ICN Galenika, Belgrade and NeutralR, Dahlia, Belgrade) were used as excipients for the incorporation of some herbal extracts (Extractum Achilleae oleosum, Extractum Chamomillae oleosum, Extractum Hippocastani fluidum and Extractum Coggygriae siccum). The medical ointments for local symptomatic treatment of hemorrhoidal disease were formulated and comparatively investigated, with respect to their stability, rheological properties and in vitro drug release.
Physico-chemical and biopharmaceutical parameters obtained during this study show that NeutralR base is more suitable as an excipient for herbal antihemorrhoidal ointment.
