Abstract:
The peppermint cultivar "Italo-Mitcham" was grown in northern Italy and harvested at four growth stages, from pre-flowering to crop end, to evaluate yield and oil quality.
The oil was analysed by GC-MS. Full flowering produced the greatest amount of biomass, oil and menthol.
Menthone decresead as plants matured whereas menthyl acetate and the undesirable menthofuran showed opposite trends.
