Abstract:
In our work we studied the composition of essential oil of different basil samples and the quantitative change of each component in herboils and their quantitative distribution between the flower, leaf and stem during the vegetation period of the plant.

In the essential oils obtained by water-steam distillation we separated about 30 components by gas chromatographic method and identified 11 mono, 12 sesquiterpenes and 2 aromatic compounds of them.

During the quantitative evaluation we established that in the herb oils the monoterpenes reached own maximum in flowering stage, the sesquiterpenes had their maximum in flowering- productive stadiums. Linalool remained as a main component (40–60%) of oil during the whole flowering period. In late flowering and ripening stages, at most the linalool content decreased suddenly (25–40%) and the same time the sesquiterpene content reached own maximum.

Studying the distribution of each component in the organs or plant, we established that in the early flowering stage the oil components were present first in leaves, but from the full and late flowering stages they concentrated mainly in flowers.
