Abstract:
There is a special situation in Hungary with respect to the growing, processing, storage and trading of apples.
The large amount of harvested apples (1 million T/year) is four times more than our annual consumption.
The "optimum picking date" is both crucially important and dependent on the later use of the apples.
Different dates are needed depending on the market, the fruit juice processing, the pectin extraction, and the long term storage.
