Abstract:
Lettuce seedlings grown in commercial forest litter (Ecobosc) had a superior response than those grown in peat based substrates.
Those transplants showed better development and an appropiated leaf/root dry weight ratio (LRDWR). Mixes formulated with cork had an inferior performance and seedling quality was lower than in all other media.
Growth responses were improved when the liquid feeding normally supplied in Catalonian nurseries (BS) was corrected by the addition of nitric acid and increasing nitrate and potassium levels.
