THE ARTHROPOD PESTS OF MANGO IN ISRAEL

Abstract:
Forty-three species of arthropods belonging to 19 different families occur on mango in Israel. Six of them are of economic importance: the mango bud mite, Eriophyes mangiferae (Sayed); the western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande); the Mediterranean mango thrips, Scirtothrips mangiferae Priesner; the mango shield scale, Milviscutulus mangiferae (Green); the oriental red scale, Aonidiella orientalis (Newstead) and the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata Wiedemann. The appearance of the pests of less economic importance is also discussed.
