Abstract:
Because of quarantine regulations, the mango seed weevil, Cryptorhynchus mangiferae (F.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is a major barrier to the export of mango fruits.
A brief review of its distribution, biology, and behavior is given.
Field control strategies involve field sanitation, chemical application, host plant resistance, and forming pest-free zones.
The development of postharvest treatments including heat, fumigation, and irradiation is reviewed and the need to further develop these technologies is discussed.
