DEVELOPMENT AND CURRENT PROBLEMS IN THE PRODUCTION AND SALE OF FRUIT IN CROATIA WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO APPLE PRODUCTION

Authors:   T. Zimbrek, K. Kero, I. Miljkovic, N. Pavicic
Abstract:
Faster development of fruit growing was marked by creating the modern orchards in the state sector in the early sixties. As the result, the fruit production increased from the late sixties to 1989. During the recent few years, the fruit growing stagnated due to slow replantation of orchards. The management of orchards shoud necessarily be adapted to the market and organizational requirements. It is also important that the various sorts of fruit are adapted to meet the customer's taste. Therefore, the new sorts of fruit should be permanently introduced in fruit production. The influence of ecology on fruit production should be aimed at preservation of nature and protection of customers.
