ISHS Acta Horticulturae 34: Symposium on growth Regulators in Fruit Production

THE EFFECT OF SADH, CHLORMEQUAT AND SOME FATTY ACIDS AND THEIR DERIVATIVES ON APPLE TREES

Author:   L. Chvojka
DOI:   10.17660/ActaHortic.1973.34.24
Abstract:
Waste plant oils containing fatty acid derivatives and other growth inhibitors were highly active in selectively killing or inhibiting terminal buds of apple trees. The effects of SADH of chlormequat in retarding the growth of one year old shoots of apple trees were enhanced, if the waste plant oils or selected synthetic fatty acid derivatives were also used. At very high concentrations the waste plant oils induced abscission of leaves from apple trees.
