| Abstract:
These proceedings contain the condensed versions of papers presented at two co-ordinated symposia on 'Growth Regulators in Fruit Production' organized under the patronage of the International Society for Horticultural Science and held at: The Hilton Hotel, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA on 26–28 August, 1972 and at Long Ashton Research Station, University of Bristol, England on 11–15 September, 1972 The published papers have been arranged according to subject matter, irrespective of the symposium at which they were originally presented. The literature references are published as a consolidated list. This was done partly to save space and to avoid undue repetition, but the editors feel that this bibliography is, in itself, a valuable piece of documentation since it should contain references to nearly all the significant work in this field which had been published up to August 1972. The twin symposia were organized by a Working Group of the Fruit Section of the ISHS. This group is grateful to Dr. F.R. Tubbs, Chairman of the Fruit Section, who first suggested this novel approach to the problem of organizing an international symposium in a situation where travelfunds are limiting.
