Authors:   P.J. Jansen van Vuuren, A. Coertse, J. Coetzee
Abstract:
The Southern Africa region is very rich in plant species. A large proportion of these species are endemic to South Africa. This region is divided into six different floral regions. Many of the species in the Cape Region have great potential as floriculture crops.

A number of mainly the families Amaryllidaceae, Hyacinthaceae, and Iridaceae, as well as members of the Proteacease, Ericaceae and Asteraceae are currently included in enobling programmes for future application as floricultural crops.
