NEW APPROACHES TO ESTIMATING CROP EVAPOTRANSPIRATION

Author:   R. G. Allen
Keywords:   Penman-Monteith, Crop Coefficient, Energy Balance
Abstract:
Recent advances in estimating evapotranspiration (Et) for agricultural and horticultural crops have included the adaption of the Penman-Monteith equation for use as a grass reference and for direct application to specific crops. The evapotranspiration reference and crop coefficient combination continues to be the most reliable approach to estimating evapotranspiration requirements for planning and management purposes. This paper describes the application of the Penman-Monteith method and other new approaches for estimating crop evapotranspiration.
