ISHS Acta Horticulturae 334: I International Pineapple Symposium

EFFECTS OF MICRONUTRIENTS ON GROWTH, NUTRIENTS CONTENT IN D-LEAF, AND YIELD OF PINEAPPLE

Author:   J. Verawudh
Keywords:   Ananas comosus
Abstract:
Four levels of a combination of Fe, Cu, Zn and B were applied as six foliar sprays to Smooth Cayenne pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) plants at six-week intervals beginning six months after planting. The highest level of micronutrients (in mg plant-1 49.75 Cu, 6.1 Fe, 9.5 Zn and 15.0 B) significantly increased plant fresh weight 12 months after planting. Levels of Fe, Cu, Zn, and B in the longest leaf (D-leaf) at 12 months after planting were in the ranges of 26.5–36.2, 5.6–9.0, 13.8–14.4, and 14.2–19.7 ppm respectively. The highest level of micronutrients significantly increased fruit yield by 10 tons/ha from 71.4 tons/ha for the control. Total soluble solids and titratable acidity were not affected by the micronutrient treatments.
