Abstract:
The caffeoylquinic acids content of nine Argentine medicinal plants used for their digestive and hepatoprotective properties was studied by HPLC. This content was compared to that of a leaf extract of artichoke, Cynara scolymus L., which has known cholagogue - choleretic and hepatoprotective activities.
The detection of high percentages in the studied plants could justify their traditional medicinal use and the proposed analytical method provides an excellent contribution to their quality.
