Abstract:
Paeonia species (Paeoniaceae) have been used in the treatment of various diseases.
There are 7 species of Paeonia in Turkey however they are not widely used in folk medicine.
In our previous works, the antiinflammatory activity of two Turkish Paeonia species (P. peregrina Miller and P. daurica Andrews) was investigated.
As a result of these works only the root of P. daurica showed significant activity.
Then, chemical studies are performed on the methanolic extract prepared from the roots of P.daurica in which monoterpenoids and acetophenon derivatives were found intensively.
Monoterpenoids have been isolated and their identification were realized on the basis of their spectral data.
