Abstract:
A common naturally occurring phenylpropanoid, anethole (1), has been found to enhance antifungal activity 32-fold of sesquiterpene dialdehydes, polygodial (2) and warburganal (3), against Candida albicans. In addition, a similar phenylpropanoid, methyleugenol (4), enhanced activity of polygodial 128-fold against Pityrosporum ovale. The combinations were found to be fungicidal.
