Abstract:
Results of the study indicate that sprouting in Gloriosa superba Linn. tubers is low and erratic, being 20.63% at 15 days and 56.9% at 30 days after planting.
The plants had on average 54.6 fully expanded leaves and 3.8 branches at flower initiation, 8.5 branches at final harvest and branching occurred at an average height of 58.5 cms.
Study of the relationship between vegetative growth and yield revealed that seed number was maximum in medium sized fruits and dry see yield increased with increase in number of branches and leaf area.
