Abstract:
Foliar samples from thirty six plant species belonging to seventeen families and showing symptoms (mosaic, mottle) or without symptoms were analysed by serological tests (double diffusion in agarose gels and ELISA) to identify the following viruses: cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CAMV), cowpea mild mottle (CMMV), southern bean mosaic virus (SBMV), cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV), cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), yam mosaic virus (YMV), tobacco mosaic virus-cowpea strain (TMV-CS), and tomato ringspot virus (ToRSV). These viruses were detected in the following weeds: Cassia hirsuta (SBMV, ToRSV), Centrosema pubescens (CMV and CMMV), Nauclea Latifolia (CAMV and CMMV), Mucuna sp. (TMV-CS), Dioscorea togoensis (YMV), Commelina banghalensis (YMV) and Clerodendron umbellatum (YMV).
