CORRELATION BETWEEN CUTTING SIZE AND GROWTH OF LICORICE (GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA L.)

Authors:   R. Omidbaigi, J. Bernáth
Abstract:
The main purpose of our experiment was to determine how the cutting size with different characters (length, diameter, age and number of buds) effects growth, root yield and also accumulation of active substances of licorice. It was proved by our investigations that in general plantation with rhizomes of 21 – 30 cm in length and 14 – 20 mm in diameter seems to the most effective one. By this propagation method the highest rhizome and root yield (369 g/plot) was obtained. In this treatment the accumulation of glycyrrhetinic acid is good enough, characterized by 1.73 % level.
