Abstract:
This report concerns research performed in 1990 and 1991 to verify the amount of young cladode meal and flower residues that could be obtained from a commercial prickly pear plantation at the time of blossoming.
Of the former product, which is the base for the preparation of hypoglycemic and hypocholesteremic tablets and pills, 117.8 and 129.8 Kg/ha were obtained in the two years.
The dry flowers, which are used in the preparation of diuretic infusions, amounted to 6.56 Kg/ha in 1990 and 12.82 Kg/ha in 1991.
