Abstract:
The investigations were carried out from 1987 to 1992 on apple, peach, sweet and sour cherries blooming trees.
It was found that applications before spring frost with used chemicals made possible to protect some flowers, in the most years of conducted experiments, against spring frost damages.
The influence of application was not always equally effective and replicable.
However in sytuation when fruit growers do not have any possibilities to apply other more succesful methods of flower protection against spring frost damages spraying of blooming fruit trees with one of the tested chemical does create a real chance to protect from 2 to 30% of flowers and save even small crop.
The best results were obtained when the trees were sprayed with 0.125% Teric 12A23B, 0.125% Brij 35 or 1.5–2.0% Frostgard solution 1–6 days before spring frost occurs.
