EFFECTS OF DURATION AND PLACING OF THE HIGH NIGHT DIF TEMPERATURE ON THE MORPHOGENESIS OF PELARGONIUM X ZONALE HYBRID ‘PINK CLOUD’

Abstract:
Pelargonium x zonale ‘Pink Cloud’ was subjected to 0, 2, 6 or 10 hours of 6°C higher night temperature than day temperature after sunset, around midnight or before sunrise. Daily average temperature was 18°C for all treatments.

Negative DIF shortened plant height and internode length compared to neutral DIF. However, there was no effect of duration or placing of the higher night temperature.

Negative DIF had no influence on number of nodes, number of lateral shoots, length of flower stalks, fresh weight, dry weight or dry matter content.
